World Asthma Day at Cherry Creek Elementary

World Asthma Day is celebrated on the first Tuesday of May each year. To celebrate World Asthma Day 2009, an Asthma Advocate activity was held at Cherry Creek Elementary in Utah County. Each morning the week of World Asthma Day, asthma information was shared over the morning announcements by the student council.    


On World Asthma Day athletes from Utah Valley University (UVU) volunteered time conducting asthma education activities and playing sports with students. Rory Fannon from UVU's men's basketball team, Akwasi Frimpong from UVU's men's track and field team, and Kelli Roach from UVU's women's track and field team shared messages about the importance of physical activity and that all children, even those with asthma, can participate and succeed in playing sports.
